Kenetrek. I can wear them all day up and down hills, through fall and winter conditions, and they just keep going. They broke in fast and I don't experience the same foot fatigue I've had with other boots.

Got a pair of the Browning Featherlites that are made from kangaroo or some odd ball leather. Bought them while in college back in the early 90s. WHile the leather is getting a bit dry, they still keep the water out and still get used to hunt in. Traction is not a big selling point, as they do not have a very aggressive sole, but dang they are light and they are waterproof.

It really depends on how they fit your feet. There are plenty of high quality boots.

Zamberlan boots are excellent, especially if you have a wide fore foot and narrow heel. That goes for whatever last the Vioz and similar boots are made with. I believe the last's are listed on the site.

I highly recommend Zamberlan 1025 Tofane or 1030 Sella.
Pricey, but definitely worth it imo.

I'm a retired surveyor, worked in the mountains, worked on big heavy construction sites, owned a ranch with cattle, rode horses, packed with horses and shanks mare, hunted in 5 states, been on my feet most of my working career and retirement. I have 4 pairs of White's, Smoke Jumpers, worn by most wildfire crews, mine don't have the fire rating, and Packers for ranching and riding. White's is now owned by the a Japanese company, that also owns LaCross and Danner. The employees at White's (Spokane, WA.)said nothing has changed. They have added a few different models that I'm not familiar. They also are expensive, but they rebuild them, if used just for recreation they'll be around a lot of years. Check'em out on the internet. I have a pair of Nick's, also in Spokane, bought a pair of custom fitted Packers didn't fit from the git go, they had my money, and would do absolutely nothing to make it right.

+1 on the Browning Kangaroo's. Most comfortable hunting boot I ever had. It took a decade but I eventually wore them out. I don't know if you can still get them & if you can I wouldn't know if they are made the same. The sole was "stipled" instead of "lugged". I'd probably still have them but I didn't take very good care of them. I just wore them & mis-treated them & left them for the next hunt.

I have a pair of Scarpas which probably have at least 4000 miles on them; a lot of them on the scree slopes. These are absolutely the best boots I have owned. I am considering another pair which should last for the duration. WH

Hunting season is just around the corner , The terrain here is some of the roughest on the planet. Just wondering what boots you folks are having good luck with?

these are not in the same class as some of the ones listed here but for 120$ish I have a pair of wolverine raiders, REALLY COMFORTABLE and not expensive. maybe not a hunting boot but nice everydayer. good luck sir

Bought a pair of russel birdshooters years ago. Been re soled 3 times. The leathers getting thin so this is the end of them when the soles wear out. Their really expensive now but I'll probably bit the bullet and get another pair. Their REALLY comfortable!!

Danner Elk Hunter are great boots that will last a long time if taken care of properly but the best I’ve owned are Lathrop & Sons Mountain Hunter boots.

Had Kenetrek Mountain Extreme boots and they suck. Not waterproof at all and take forever to break in. Don’t hold up to to hard abuse in the high country for very long either. Don’t waste your money on Kenetrek. Never been more disappointed in a boot purchase. Get Lathrop & Sons cuz they are FAR superior

My all time favorites are the old-school Irish Setter with the moc-toe and crepe soles, they are very quiet and comfortable in the woods. I have worn this model for over 40 years.
