Best hunting boots you have owned

Lacrosse Aerohead 7mm. 2 seasons so far and they are by far the most comfortable boot I have worn..and they are still waterproof. Only downside is the traction sucks in mud/snow. I really need other boots for show, so I need to check link to narrow down my choices. I wish the tread was more aggressive. Overall I really like them though.

Danner for me but I guess it depends on how many miles you plan on walking

If I have a lot of miles to walk I do NOT want to be wearing my Danners. At least not the old, classic Danners that I have. They just are not comfortable enough. For rough stuff I wear Zamberlan, or if it is really tough mountain/rock terrain, Kenetrek Mountain Extreme. For light stuff (like pheasant hunting) I wear Oboz Wind River. All are waterproof until it comes in over the tops.

The Kenetreks are by far the best boot I have ever seen, but they are a true mountaineering boot made of of thick (2.8mm) leather, which means they are very stiff FOR LIFE.

Somewhat paradoxically, however, they also have the most comfortable FLOOR I have ever experienced. The old mountain boots (remember Lowa Civetas? ) were like walking on pieces of 2x6. Kenetrek did a great job of fixing that in the M.E.'s.

But, unless I'm going into really tough terrain, I'm not going to be wearing my Kenetreks, it is going to be something more flexible. Everything is a tradeoff -- comfort for support, or vice versa.

But the OP did ask about boots for extremely rough terrain, and nothing beats the Kenetreks for that.

Hunting season is just around the corner , The terrain here is some of the roughest on the planet. Just wondering what boots you folks are having good luck with?

Chippewa Arctic 50. Here in Maine, we have rough terrain, snow and very cold temps. They work for me. Feet have never been cold and they have the Vibram lug soles that keep you from slipping and sliding. Expensive but worh every penny IMHO.

Most Danners are for narrower feet than wide. Crispi's run narrow too.

I'm running the Schenee's Bear tooth and the Scheme's Mission V2 and the are both great boots, both made in Italy.

Russells, custom made for your feet. Send them back every few years to be re soled.

If you want a serious mountaineering boot (sans cramp-on slots) the Kenetreks Mountain Extremes are made in Narrow..
