Hard to beat a Savage Palma or F-T/R rifle....let's see....F-Class World Championships F-T/R wins X4, 7 of the 16 team members run Savage based or stock Savage rifles and individual Golds at said World Championships with...how did Erik put it??....a crappy trigger and a barrel nut.

You are right. Customs are so good that 9 custom rifles carry the weight of the 7 Savages.

And I'm pretty sure Freddy Haltom shoots a Savage as well....2nd behind Larry Bartholome at the Berger Southwest Nationals in F-Open isn't too shabby.

Sorry, bubba...the results speak for themselves. :)

Yes they do, the custom action won. :P

You're impossible, Erik. :P

Does this mean Erik got beat by a savage!?

Pretty much. :)

Actually, in my defense, I got beat by just about everyone! LMAO!

Lol me too!(I mean I regularly get beat by everyone) And that's no joke. I'm going to shoot my 223 at a 1000 yard match in a couple of weeks, I'll be lucky if I can keep it on the paper!

Send me all the current different brands and models of rifles with scopes and ammo and I will test fire each one. A detailed report will follow . I m a retired old timer so I have the time. Over the years I have shot Anschutz, Browning, Cooper, CZ, Howa, Remington ,Ruger, Savage, Sako, and Winchester rifles. Most all have ben bolt action and a few were pump, leaver , and semi auto rifles. But I have not shot all the different models made by each brand. So the best factory rifle is unknown by me. Then the next questions could be , what is the best factory rifle for hunting small game, small varmints, preditors, small, medium, and large big game . Then there rifles for short range hunting in the woods which are different than long range rifles used in the wide open country. Could be that I don't have the time to anser your question.....

I feel your pain...the only reason I didn't finish dead last was the guys that DNF'd. :)

But wait....I have an excuse.... I left 5 shots in the ammo box when I ran out of time on the last relay on Saturday at 1K in that nasty, switchy stuff.

Can you say Brain Fart?? LMAO You could have left me for dead when they called time..... :o

Timers??? We don't need no stinkin' timers. :)

Dang, I didnt mean for this to turn into a another Savage VS everything else or an Erik VS Everyone else thread!
Had a Few vote for the AI and a couple for the Sako, anyone else want to chime in on the original topic?
Someone mentioned a Ruger in 22PPC. I never knew ruger made a factory rifle in A PPC.

Yes way back gosh in the 80's if my memory serves me right. They made a 6 ppc and a 22 ppc

mao,,,yep ,,,Ruger and Sako made PPC's in the good ole' days,,,,they are very sought after for "factory" class comp. ,,,,,,,I am a fan of Remington factory stuff,,,(I like .223 and .243 ),I think most of the mfgs. make good rifles ,,,the person who tinkers with the loads and knows his rifle,, no matter what brand is hard to beat,,,Roger

What about blaser rifles? I don't know much about them but, I guess they are consider factory rifles. They sure are expensive!
They are factory, they are expensive, fascinating bolt action operation.

Always lusted after the Blasers. Too bad a replacement barrel has to come from Blaser and cost as much as a Rem 700 Factory PSS (or more). Love the Idea of a straight pull bolt (no I dont want a K31)

My vote is for Tikka as the best value in a factory rifle. I have three - a T3 in .308, a 595 in 7mm-08, and a 26" Master Continental in .308. The last one shoots tiny groups with 155g Scenars. If they offered the T3 sporter with a 26" barrel, I would likely buy one.

Gonna get a Sako one of these days . . .

The barrel is where the bolt 'locks', (one reason for the price) not in the receiver, and they are not lugs as we would know them. In effect, as I see it, the action is just there to guide the bolt. I think it is a fascinating piece of design, and sure is interesting in it's operation. I've not seen anyone use their concept in a benchrest rifle.
