Best deer attractant for back yard.

My elderly aunt and uncle love to watch wildlife and have a yard that butts up to a wooded area. They are wanting to attract deer to the edge of their yard where it meets the back side of their yard. I am looking for suggestions on what would be the best attractant to draw the deer in.

A standard salt block was put out but so far has not drawn any deer in. I was thinking peanut butter but have read mixed reviews on the deer liking it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Acorn crush, sugar beet crush mixed with corn are a little expensive but will attract deer. I get those at Tractor Supply. Let them know, a bunch of other critters will come to the table too. My corn feeder goes off once a day and I have deer, fox, raccoon, possum, squirrels and a groundhog that will show up for a free meal.

Edit: Not to mention crows, bluejays, and other birds that eat whole corn.

My wife loves deer she always leaves them all kinds of snacks, then she planted some small lilac trees
and it appears that the smaller bucks just love to rub the bark off of them.

So now its "those f@cken deer are killing my trees", so me being the supporting husband I ask her
should I put out some apples for the deer.

I used to use the RED blocks...They have minerals, grains and hard "syrup". deer and turkey loved them...Neighbor complained that I was drawing too many deer in and they were eating on her shrubs so I quit. It took a year or so before they quit coming in.

I run trail cameras in the summer and best I have every found to bring deer into cameras is big and j. I buy it in the 25 pound blocks at Walmart or tractor supply and they absolutely destroy them blocks and I always get more activity on my cameras with it.

You should check the state laws on feeding deer. Since CWD a lot of states have prohibited this.

They make several ones, is there one type that they seem to prefer over the other?

He wants to look at them, not shoot them. Just say you’re feeding the squirrels if some Warden comes by. Tell him he’s trespassing too!
It doesn't work that way in Minn. If it attracts any deer (whatever the intended species is) in CWD areas it's illegal ...No bait/food what so ever to attract any species.

Apples are #1 period, however the most expensive, corn always works the colder the weather the better it works, and last sugar beets, a real treat for deer best in winter, cut in half with hatchet or machete.

So the wife feeds the deer about 50 lbs of corn a week right in front of the window--she has done this for almost 20 years--The does bring the new fawns up each year--we have generations that have been "raised" here--it is great--company loves to watch them--The wife can call them up at feeding time. Corn put out at regular times , in same spot, with a Tractor Supply brown mineral block year round--The deer will ring your door bell if you forget to put out the corn

I believe they just call it the cube I think it’s the bb squared recipe. Other guys I know have great luck with them and also just the bag with powdered mix I just prefer the block for some reason.
