Best Cleaning Rods for .22LR Rimfire?

I am looking for a Dewey rod do clean my 22 rimfires with, the 22 rod I do centerfires with will not fit in a rimfire barrel. I was sure that Dewey made a rimfire rod but do not see it on the website. Do I get a 12 cliber rod or is there a model number that I need to know to get what Dewey intended for me to use with my rimfires.

Just when through this process with my new Tikka T1X, 22 rimfire.

I am a huge fan of Dewey coated rods. However, I purchased a Bore Tech 22 RF rod made specifically for a 22 rimfires. I selected this one because it has a standard 8/32" thread.

However, the rod was still too tight in my Tikka T1X, so I called them, and they sent me a 20-caliber coated rod with jag. It works perfectly and is a very high-quality rod. Bore Tech's Customer services was outstanding.

If you are bronze brush user, you can still use a standard 22-bronze brush with this rod by purchasing a Dewey adapter that will thread into a 20-caliber rod and fit a standard 8/32" threaded brush. Dewey recommends a 22-pistol brush (shorter) for use in rimfires since it recreates less resistance and rod flex. Dewey "no harm" brushes have brass cores.

I have 5 Dewey's of various sizes and lengths. For my last 2 rods I chose Pro-Shot. I like the smaller diameter handle as it doesn't hit the heel of the stock on my expensive Leonard's. Not a fan of overly long rods to avoid this problem.

Yea, that is the one thing about Dewey rods which I wish they would change, the handle is too thick which creates the need for an overly long rod which is not ideal, too much flex.

I "semi- solved" that problem by filing down one end of the handle so it cleans the heel of the stock. It works fairly well and easy and quick to do with a wood rasp. Just be careful you only take off the amount needed to clear the heel of the stock.

I've been using my Tipton .223 rod for ever. But now that I'm getting a wider flavor of 22lr bolt actions I going to purchase a Pro Shot. My Tipton fits my Tikka T1X, Bergara, and Savage nicely.

I rotate the handle so a groove lines up with the top of my Whuskey3 chassis. A thinner handle would work better.

I use Dewey stuff exclusively but I live 15 minutes away, and always go pick my stuff up. When I was a kid we used to drive by the grandfathers gunsmith shop a couple times a month that was about half an hour away.

On the dewey site they state that rimfire shooters should use the coated .20 caliber rods to prevent being too tight.
This is the advice you're looking for OP.... the .22 rod will get the coating knocked off so definitely buy the .20 I know from first hand experience.... The rods are alot stiffer than you think so the smaller rod isn't a problem... Cutting the patches to fit helps alot... Buying cleaners especially for rimefire helps also...
