best bullet for trg.

I am shooting berger 155.5 and lapua 155 bullets with my sako trg, 26in barrel, 1/11 twist.
Both bullets shoot well but I do wonder if there is a better bullet that I should be trying for 300 and 500 yard competition.

I have tested multiple bullets from 155-210 in my trg 22 and many will hold 1/2" moa to 600+. I settled on the 155.5 Berger, 48.5 Varget, Lapua brass, Fed GM primer. It runs 2925 FPS 10 shots over an Oehler 35 @ 95F, DA 6720'. SD 4, vertical is outstanding. Due to lot variations start lower Varget charge and run over chrono until you get in the 2900 FPS range. I have noted TRG 22 chambers are all VERY close holler if you want my OAL. I feel a 155 class bullet is all you need for 3-600 competition but if you want to try higher the 185 Berger LRBT also is a winner.

I got the tightes group in my son TRG 22 using the new palma 2156 by Sierra, second A-Max for some odd reason did not get good results with scenar 155

I did try the 2156 sierras at 100 yards but got the odd flyer in my groups.
I only started using the berger155.5 recently but I do think they are slightly more accurate than the lapua 155.
Im using lapua brass fed match primers and 45.5 grains of varget.
My batch of varget must be on the hot side as 46 grains was giving me 2900fps with slight pressure signs.
The first day I tried the 155.5 bergers I loaded 5 each with 45. 45.5 and 46 grains of varget.
All 3 groups measured 0.3in at 100 yards
Point of impact didnt change much either between groups as all 15 shots went into about 0.5in on the target.
I think I will stick with the bergers so, its a pity they are so expensive though.

Now take it to 300+ yards and see what it does palo, if it shoots at 300 you already have your load to play the 300 & 600 yard game. My TRG never liked Scenar's the 2156's shoot well but not as well as the 155.5's and never have tried A-Max. I don't like Berger price either until I pull the trigger then all forgotten.

I like the long BT 167gr 30 cal Cauterucio Bullet for 3 & 600 yds. It bucks wind well without the extra recoil of the 175 gr. In my 308 it puts 10 shots into the size of a nickel at 100 yds. But I can't hold tighter than that nor read the wind.

Good Shooting.........
