best bore cleaner?

I like RB 17 bore solvent and for that stubborn copper build up I use barns CR 10. RB 17 is biodegradable! Cool!:D

Preacher -- do you feel "Butches Bore Shine" gets the copper and carbon?
-----------
Donovan,
I don't shoot so much at a time that I have a problem with copper and carbon building up, and 90 % of my barrels are Pac-Nor and they seem to clean up pretty quick, and they have never seen a brush other than nylon, and I don't usually even bother with that, just Bounty paper towels and BBS.
A couple times a year I'll use JB just to double check they are as clean as I like em.
I've cleaned with BBS and then tried to find blue color with other solvents, ie Sweets and don't seem to find any... but again I rarely run more than 20 or so out of any of then before soaking overnight with BBS....
A friend from Tenn sent me some TM solution to try and so far it's no better than what I can do with BBS...
I think I have every cleaner known to man around this warehouse I live in, and I still go right back to BBS.......
If I was to ever have a problem I would use whatever it took to solve it, including brass brushes....
So far my Hawkeye shows nice clean steel from one end to the other, except for one of my 7saum's that fouls like crazy inside of 10 shots. Thats funny too because the other 2 clean up really easy, but that one takes awhile....

Different strokes for different folks I guess......

Have you guys tried Carb-Out yet? I haven't found anything better for carbon yet. I haven't been using it for long but absolutely love it. I've been using Danzac for a while now and haven't had any issue's with copper in my last 5 barrels, used in competition last year and so far this year). They have been 2-30BR's, 2-6PPC's and a 30PPC. These barrels have been shot a lot, with no thought given how hot the barrel gets. I sometimes don't get around to cleaning them for a few aggs, but usually clean them about every 75 rounds. Carb-Out usually gets the powder fouling out in one or two patches, then I use Wipe-Out to get at the copper. I don't know why I use the Wipe-Out though as I can't remember the last time I saw blue on a patch, maybe a little exaggeration). Periodically, maybe every 300-400 rounds, I'll give a barrel a real good JB clean-up and even use a bronze brush:eek:

I am pretty new to this list, and shoot mainly military rifles, Swiss, Swedish and English, so believe me, these barrels are rarely perfect and cleaning is not the easiest thing. I shoot about 100 rounds between cleanings, and use a borescope to determine when I am done cleaning.
I have had really good luck with GM Vehicle Care Top Engine Cleaner, #1050002
for removing carbon. It just melts it away, but don't get it on your stock! I've had
good results for the copper with BoreTech Copper Remover,16oz.available from
Russ Haydon). It seems to work as well as Sweet's and is not nearly so nasty. Just my
two cents to this thread,
