Best binoculars for under $1000

Looking for birding binoculars (new or used) for my wife. Celebrating 39 years of marriage in May despite my many short comings and she’s really into birding.

Thanks

I am very impressed with my Athlon binos. I didn't get their very best, but I am always impressed with them and the value for the buck.
I would think their better ones are even better.

I don't own or use binoculars - for me a good monocular is more useful day to day. But if I were going to buy a pair, and based on their fast customer response (by the actual owners of the company). And the fact that they would make it good if you didn't like them - I would not hesitate to try:

Tract Toric

But, she might want 10x. So Eurooptics has a sale on Zeiss right now.

I have the vortex viper HD in 8x42 which are very reasonably priced and have excellent clarity and color. Come with Lifetime warranty and excellent Vortex service. We use them several times every week for birding and I have never been disappointed. The Viper HD 8x30's are also very good if you don't need corrective eye glasses.

I made the mistake of assuming my mother understood al of the benefits of expensive binoculars for birding as she was going out every week with a group ... I thought I would buy her something nice and give her a leg up from what she was using ... dad's old set from the 60's.
I later visited her and looked through the bino's and asked if this is how she adjusted them and she said yes .... She had no idea of how to properly focus them!

Congrats on 39 years and hope she knows how to use them and appreciates good glass!

I purchased the Steiner 15x56HX binos a couple years ago and couldn't be happier with them. My wife has the swaro 15x56hd that cost me 3x as much and the stieners are every bit as good in my eyes especially in low light. I found my stieners over on dvor.com for $745 nearly half off.

Put a wtb add on Accurate Shooter. Got a beautiful pair of Swarovski, and I mean pristine, from a very nice member on here for a very reasonable price. Many members have some real gems, just sitting around, that are just waiting for a new owner. Swarovski sets the standard in my world!

You might as well just be driving a Model "T," if your binoculars don't have image stabilization. Canon makes some of the best.

I am very pleased with the two pair of Fujinon binoculars I have. Long eye relief and very good optics. I have the 7x50 and 10x70 flavor. They are big for sure. I wouldn't suggest the 10x70 for birding, but perhaps the 7x50. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...16330574_7x50_fmtr_sx_polaris_binoculars.html

Next up are these Pentax 8x43. Very good optics, with long eye relief. Well built but not the size and weight of tank-like Fujinons. I use these for walking around with them hanging off my neck.

I have bought burris and leupold in the past few months. Mckenzie were the leupolds and the burris are signature HD. Both are 10x and both are very clear for under $500 and they both come in nice cases

The Leupold BX-4's for $500 are a great deal. They have 8 x 42's for the same price.

If you can live with 8.5, these would be really hard to beat for $1k. I bought a pair of these used, and they are great binoculars.

They come in 10.5 also.

I bought a pair of Cabela's branded binos made by Meopta. Czech glass & I think my 10x50's are the equal of Steiner's for far less $$$. I believe the glass has been upgraded to HD since but they are still quite a value.
