Best barrel for 100/200 yard 6 br

Just curious on everyone's opinion on a good barrel for short range 6 br shooting. Thinking about shooting Bart 66 or 68 grain but would also shoot lighter Berger or Sierra bullets also. Thinking about 24 inch 1/13.5 twist Krieger barrel but not sure.

I shoot a hart 14 twist with 68gr Berger . Shoots great.
Personally you can go wrong with any top barrel maker with the BR

i shoot a heavy contour but it really doesn't matter what ever makes you happy.
They just flat out shoot . I shoot ppc and after so many rounds I have them rechambered to BR . Works great for me.

I have a light contour 22 inch barrel 1in14 that shoots and its almost wore out.

I shoot 8 twist 30'' shilen w/heavy bullets 6BR and a 6ppc 14twist w/68gr bergers so I like my SHILENS BARRELS.

Everyone has their favorite ice cream and everyone has their favorite barrel maker.

For the bullets that you are looking at, either a 1:13.5 or 1:14 will work.

Most short range folks like the .237 bore better than the .236.

Make sure you get a chamber with a freebore to go with those bullets. Very critical. Very.

As to weight, you want a profile and length that let's you balance the rifle for perfect tracking. It should balance right around the front of the action. It's subtle, but it's very important.

N-133, 322, IMR 8208 XBR, H4895, LT-32 and the like are your friends.

I like the XBR a lot in the 6 BR. Very versatile.

Thanks for the information. I went with a Krieger 1-13.5 twist HV barrel with a .050 freebore as that was what Lester Bruno suggested. I actually have H322, H4895, and LT-32 powder to try. I have been trying desperately to find N133 and N135 powder but it seems like there is none out there at this time. I was thinking of setting up a PPC barrel next. I am waiting on BAT to answer me on whether I can use my BAT MB action for the PPC. I'm currently using it for the 6 BR. I believe it depends on the style of extractor. I'm almost positive it has a SAKO style. I'm unable to provide all the information as the action is at the gunsmith right now.

Sounds very good. The 50 thou FB will handle most everything. Perhaps not some of the boat tails.

My Borden handles both 30 BR and PPC cases flawlessly. Hopefully, your BAT will as well.

I've seen people post that the 205 and 205M come off the same line. That there is some additional QC element of the 205M. No agreement on what it is. One rumor is that they are from the middle of a run where things are more consistent.

Unless you are at the absolute top of the game and willing to spend money for every possible 0.0001 on your agg, I'd feel good about a 205.

OTOH, I shoot 205M, because that's all that I ever find at my supplier.

I assume Lester is building you a rifle or at least chambering a barrel for you. I have a couple of his rifles, including a 6BR same as what you have indicated, and I've been pleased with both of them.

I used a lot of N133 out of my BR at first, but later switched to N135 and got better results. Better enough to justify switching to N135 exclusively out of it. There was a bunch of N135 available about a month ago, but the supply must have dried up. Sportsman Warehouse had it for quite a while.

If you get into 6PPC, get Tony Boyer's book. I know it is a sheep like thing to do, but I figure why reinvent the wheel when someone else has already done if for you. In his book Tony states he uses Fed 205 and 205M primers. He never talks about primers being a weak link in the accuracy equation. He does say barrels are...naturally the most expensive per shot piece of the equation.
