Best 3 or 4 AR15 Upper Receiver Types?

Looking to build 2 uppers for accuracy and i have heard that some are thicker than others and more rigid for a precision upper. Is a forward assist a waste of time and money? I don't like the side pull uppers as they need an Allen wrench to disassemble to clean. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Mark

If you can find a Defiance Machine upper and lower you will have one of the best in my opinion they only made them for a short time.

I know you said that you didn't like the side pull uppers because of the Allen wrench required for cleaning but I think it is very strong and stable (7075 Billet).
The extra thickness of the upper (not just the threaded nose)should hold a heavy barrel better than a thinner/lighter one.

For F-Class matches I keep an Allen in the ammo box, just in case.
For cleaning at home it's a few seconds to remove.
I use several BCA side charge uppers. The Gen 2 has a new handle.
The handle can also be used as a forward assist if you wanted.
Right now the cost is low for an upper and BCG combo. Bolt is MPI marked 9310 (lot tested I'm sure).

Fit and finish of the last 3 have been great.

LAR, MEGA, and Lantec

The first two are prolly not aval now, but Lantec should be.

I have several of each. Also have a BCA, and do not recommend it.

Lantec has the best machine work period.

I build sub MOA Aero Precision rigs. M4E1 Cerakoted uppers. Don't need bedded with the extra thickness of the Cerakote in the extension area. Aero Precision also makes a beefed up "Enhanced uppers". Have not needed to go that route though.

Mega arms HD the absolute best but no longer made (I have one Left)
DPMS Sportical slick side was and is a excellent upper receiver.

Got my BCA 20" Wylde, stainless, fluted heavy barrel, side charge, three weeks ago. Most accurate out of the box AR I have ever shot. Fit and finish are excellent. Range report? After setting the rifle up and firing some cheap ammunition I fired some 55gr Sierra Blitzkings that I had loaded for my other AR....10 rounds in 1"....and yes I have pics. Rifle functioned perfectly.

I use the Rock River EOP uppers for my 1" bull AR's. I use low
profile Burris extreme rings

I probably shouldn't have posted about BCA side charge uppers in a thread asking about the BEST.
Obviously NOT the best. They do seem to have improved lately, and the Gen 2 upper receivers are a really good fit with the X-Caliber barrel I have. Fit doesn't matter much to me as I use a true thermal fit with a spray on shim. Won't go together without heat and cold.
Not for a light weight build as the stripped receiver is 10.25 oz.
I lapped one of my new ones for a new 5.3 pound bull barrel. Will be putting it together in a few days.

Best? Nope. But still a bargain @ $100 with a BCG.
