Best 22Br loads for 1/14' 24 inch barrel

Just got my first 22BR and would appreciate your best loads for a 1/14 24 inch barrel. I assume bullets in the 50-55 grain are my best weights. I have recommendations for H322 and BL-C,2). Does anyone use VV133 or VV135. IMR 4064? What are your best loads? Thanks, Woodman

Woodman: You're going to like the 22BR, been "working" with mine for over a year now, great ctg. Mine is a Shilen Varmint contour 24" but with a 1-12 twist. For that reason I can't give you specifics for the 1-14, but mine does show a preference for 50 gr. V-Max, just touching, 205 primers, with H335 and H322 powders, 1 or 2 grains below the max recommended charges. The entire line of V-Max are outstanding in most of my rifles: Varmint bullet cost with match bullet performance. 60 gr. are #I choice,, with 26gr. H322) in the 12 twist. fdshuster@hotmail.com

I’ve tested H4895, Varget, & Benchmark with 60g Bergers and found 29,5g H4895 to be the most accurate in my Douglas. But my best 14 twist 22BR load is 32.5g Varget & a 55g Berger. Stays nice and tight till it hits 400 yards. For safety, work up to those loads if you want to try them.

You shouldn't have any trouble making that gun shoot. Lots of things work well with the .22BR...... 50gr bullets work really well and go really fast. Powders....WW748 is really fast and very accurate..... Reloder 15 is really-really accurate and plenty fast.....VV133 is really accurate and really fast. Probably lots of others I've never tried work just as well. That cartridge just naturally wants to be accurate.

I have had a 22BR for a few years and my best load is with VV 135
30.5 grs.,work up to this) It will shoot in the .2's and sometimes in the .1's . I forgot I'm using 50gr. Nosler Bal. tips
neck sized only brass. If you neck size, I only neck size about 80% of the neck works real good!

I thought I would post my best results so far. With the 1/14 twist and 24" inch barrel, my best load is 29.6 Benchmark with the Sierra 53 gr Match 1400. Several 5 shot groups at 100 yards have been under .250. I am very pleased with the 22BR. I still have other bullets and powders to try, but it appears to like the flat base bullets best at 100 yards.
Update, It also likes 55gr Blitz King and 55 gr Vmax with the same loads as above. Woodman
