Best 223 AR loads for accuracy 100-300 yds 7.7 twist

Blitz or SX bullets might not work with a 7.7 twist. I think Sierra warns of this. But regular non- Blitz bully’s are Ok...

Try sierra’s accuracy load for AR-15s with 69 grain Sierra Match King’s. 25.3 grains Varget. Every AR I’ve tried this load in has shot it well. Obviously not a Varmint load but a good accuracy load.

If you want a good practice load try the Varmedgeddon 55 (HP or tipped) and 24.5-25 grains of AA2015 or R10x. This will easily shoot half minute in most good barrels. It also loads well from a progressive. I also really like N133 here and I am going to buy some LT-32 and try it.

If you wanna' maximize everything see if you can find one of the old DPMS VLD magazines/bolt stop and you'll be able to net .25" more COAL. I'm using the 69TMK out of my .223 AI AR for 500-600-yd. coyotes. Got a buddy who's running the 77/80 TMK's/ELD-M's, and shooting varmints even further with his straight-up .223. Loved my old 65 JLK Low Drag load, but the bullet wouldn't open up on coyotes.

Everyone laughs but I have very good luck with Barnes match burners in my jp ctr-02. Shot many groups off a bipod at 200 yards under 1”. They don’t have the best ballistic coefficient I know but I can’t argue with the target.

target is the proof. good info, 69g? powder? thx

Alliant reloder 15 25grains with the 69smk is my load in 20 inch barrel. I use that bc I save the Varget for my other calibers

+1 for the 69 SMK/Varget combo. While you have a good load for your other A/R's with the powders you listed - if you wanted to see what even a 50 V-Max or maybe a 55 V-Max or Blitz King can do, I'd want to try IMR8208XBR, Accurate LT-32, and Reloader 7. A .223 with 50-55 grain bullets will shoot with one of these. I'm suggesting the 50-55's as once you go higher than 55's, recoil will rock you off your sight picture unless you have a brake. Anything heavier is also not needed out to 300 yards. If you only buy one of these powders for the 50-55's- get LT-32.

Just for your info, but I won a match against 20+ bolt guns shooting a local match with a AR15 and 77 gr noslers in a steel match from 230 yards to 850 yards. The only thing going for me that day was the wind was next to zero. The AR rifle with the right setup you can see all the impacts which gave me the edge over a lot of bolt guns.

And that is exactly why a lot of matches won't allow semi-autos. They don't have to be quite as accurate to "run" the target faster than a bolt gun can. On windy days - that is where they really shine...

Same experience with this load but I don't know about Pdogs but this bullet is ruff on groundhogs, golf ball size exits.

I have done some YouTube surfing and found that others are having great accuracy with 75 gr Hornady HPBT with two different loads of Varget. One is 24.0 grs and the other is 24.4 loading at 2.260. I have some loaded up and will be giving them a try in my brand new AR tomorrow. I built it last Saturday. Anderson upper, Toolcraft BCG, Oden Works DMR 18" 223 W 8 twist barrel.

Yup. 24.1 Varget under the Hornady 75 HPBT - Single hole 10 shot groups w/ a heavy white oak barrel.

That load works well in bolt guns too. Before I switched barrels on my son’s savage this was my go to load and I tried many.
