Bergers 105 6mm hybrid

Ive been dealing with a semiposessed 6x44BR. Ive gotten some reasonable accuracy @ 400yd w/ Sierra's 107(?)gr bthp. Ive got a box of hybrids, but have only shot a few during some period of barrel possession. Since everything is in short supply at this time, Id rather not burn a lot of them on workup, if possible to avoid. I was wondering if someone had some good advice or insight on their use. The components Im using are Lapua cases, Remi 7 1/2 primers and H4350 in or about 36gr. So I guess Im looking for advice on seating or charge levels. Or anything anyone can add.

My barrel might also be possessed. At first I thought my 6-284 liked the 105 hBN coated Hybrids .020" off the lands. But now I'm thinking they like .030" off better. :(

One of the last three groups I shot has a lot of promise. I bedded the rear of the 20 MOA rail today, so the next time out I will see if that helps.

Rogn, most everybody shoots the Hybrids at .020 off. You could do a ladder test at that seating to conserve bullets. You could also try Bruno's for more of the 105 Hybrids. I just bought 500 there a week ago.

Your comment on the 6-284 is interesting, I fought with my 6-284 for nearly a year, about to give up and a friend ask me what speed I was shooting at, I replied 3200-3250 with only mediocre results. He recommended 3500 to 3600. I tried a couple of formulas and found it shot very well at 3550 with RE25. Figured it would be a barrel burner at that, pulled it off and re chambered in 6-XC. Very happy now with it at 3200 fps and very accurate.

Thanks, Paul. My barrel is only 26" to start with and I already have two 6XC barrels. I think about 3350 fps is the limit with 105s. I started with 105 AMax's and RL-22, then switched to 105 Hybrids, and now with H4831sc. I'll keep at it for a while. And if no success, I'll turn it into a mid range groundhog gun until the barrel wears out. Then I will order either a 6mmBR or 243AI, depending on what my mood is the day I order. :)

Are the 105 Hybrids a better bullet than the 105 hutning VLDs?

i.e. are they less/more picky with seating depth? do they seem to shoot better on average?
