Berger Hunting Bullets for varmints

I was thinking of using Berger hunting bullets instead v-max's this year out of my 6br. Anybody using them for whistlepigs? How do they perform (splat factor) out of the 6br? I know they do a number on whitetail out of a 300 rum.

You want splat with a high BC use the A-Max.

I've get great accuracy out of the 80 varmint Bergers, but you'll find them less than exciting if you compare the splat to a V-max.

Serious accurate.

I don't (yet) have any real experience with them in 6mm.

But I do love Berger's 52 gr Varmint (formerly MEF) .224" bullet in the .223. Not quite as much red mist factor, but accuracy is superb.

we get the splat and red mist when the bullet comes apart and dumps it's energy inside the varmint. vlds and target bullets tend not to do this. i prefer the higher bc of the vld and target bullet, so i started hollowpointing these bullets a few years ago and had many long shots with vlds that eviserated ghogs. you have to file down the bullet's tip, then drill out the thick jacket material, producing a thin, sharp tip that comes apart soon after impact. did a lot of testing on one gallon milk jugs filled with wet newspaper...exit wounds were IMPRESSIVE. some ghogs came apart so completely that gender identification was not possible.

I don't have any experience with the 6BR caliber, but I have shot lots of the 35 gr. FBHP Berger bullets out of my .204 Ruger while out coyote hunting. Accuracy was excellent and they have always been very fur friendly for me. In the .204 caliber, the V-Max bullets had lots of "splat" factor and were pretty rough on fur, but maybe that is what you are looking for when hunting whistlepigs. ;D

I really like Berger's bullets and I've had good splatter factor using them...having said that you may also want to look into the Barnes varmint grenades, they don't group quite as tight but do a serious number on varmints
