Will a Berger 85.5 open up on a Coyote coming from a 22 Creedmoor
So, pretty explosive? This is my go to with 22 Dasher. They perform in the air and deliver upon arrival.
Of the 4 I’ve shot now, 1 was probably stitchable for full pelt value, 1 was usable but probably value loss and the other 2 were destroyed. None took a step, and the bullet worked well. But not pelt friendlySo, pretty explosive?
Perhaps a military surplus 22 cal bullet might work if your primary objective is fur. Full Metal Jacket projectiles have deep penetration and less fragmentation than "Match Bullets". Jeff Bartlett at GI BRASS seems to always have a good inventory of De-Milled brass and projectiles.Of the 4 I’ve shot now, 1 was probably stitchable for full pelt value, 1 was usable but probably value loss and the other 2 were destroyed. Yah I’ve heard the 40gr blitzkings are a great choice. Debated on trying it. Not much for fur but a buddy wants them this year. I loaded up 35gr bergers at 4050fps in the 20 tac to be fur friendly this year and kept the 85.5’s for longer shots once he gets tired of skinning them lolBest way to safe fur is to use a light bullet that explodes inside and doesn't exit. The little 40 grainers are great for that. Problem is, no matter how fast you push them, they don't carry at long distance.
