Berger 6.5 140 Hybrids verses Sierra 142 Match King

Since there are no Berger's to be had anywhere does anybody have experience with the Sierra 142's in the Creedmoor?
I've been a Berger fan for years but if I can't get them I have to move on.

Danny

Only have some preliminary results in a couple of factory barreled 6.5 Creedmoor, but they are looking promising.

I've shot both 140BHs in both 6.5x284 and 6.5x47. With the 47L I get a little move MV with the 142 at the same power charge. About 30fps at 10'. Both shoot great. I didn't bother running the x284 over the chrono. I put up the same scores at 1k with both consistently. Shoot pointed 142s pretty much exclusively now.

At the Williamsport 1,000 yard Bench Rest School, I shot my instructors 6.5x57 Improved with the Sierra 142s and they were outstanding.

I have a new 30 inch 8 twist Krieger 4 groove 6.5x47 on the way and have 142 SMKs,136 Scenar L`s and 135 BIB`s waiting on the new bbl,,,H4350,,VVN550 and RL16 ,,

I cant wait to try the 135 BIB`s in a new bbl.

I have very good results with Nosler 142gr ABLR, not sure if you are hunting or punching paper, but either has been an eye opener in both accuracy and terminal performance out of a 264WM.
I started with 129gr ABLR out of my 6.5x47, very impressive, so tried the 142’s.
Something to consider.

Cheers.
:)

That is one mans opinion but not factual. If the Bergers are not available I would try another offering that would exceed the BC of the 142 SMK in a 135 grain pre-pointed bullet that should also gain a bit of velocity as well :)https://bibullets.com/new-products/
It may be opinion, but it is one that is backed by a significant history of performance. The 142 SMK has been around for quite some time and was a go-to bullet in the days of the 6.5-284. Newer designs and full customs may have higher BCs or better consistency, but that doesn't negate the success of the 142.

I was shooting the Berger 140 hybrids and switched over to the Sierra 140 match kings and I'm getting the same results at 600. It's a no brainer... easily accessible, same performance, and less expensive. I'll be testing the Sierras this week at 600 in my new 6.5 Creedmoor Borden action, 30" Krieger 1:8 hopefully they'll shoot the same as last years rifle did.

One thing I like about Berger Hybrids is that they were developed so we don't have to chase the lands so often as we did before. I have had good luck with the Hybrids as the lands moves due to deterioration with my accuracy remaining the same. It seems with the Sierra's I have to chase the lands more often.

Not to mention that the 142 is now also coming pre pointed from Sierra. Litz has tested the pointed 142 to have the exact same BC as the standard Berger 140 VLD. Its no slouch in any category and tough to beat for a readily available mass produced bullet.

You might try contacting Steve or Shirley McGee, they had some of the Bergers recently. (McGee Stocks)
