Berger 30 Cal Hybrid test - 185 and 200 gr testers needed

Hi everyone! We’re ready to start our next test, and are looking for people who can shoot our 30 cal 185 and 200 gr Hybrid bullets. These bullets were designed to shoot in an 11” or faster twist barrel. We need people who will be able to complete the testing by Aug 15th. Also, due to shipping and customs restrictions, we will only be able to include people within the continental US on the initial test. If you are interested, please send me an email at michelle.gallagher@bergerbullets.com with the following information:

-Name, contact and shipping information.
-Type of rifle you will use to test these bullets.
-Type of test you plan to conduct.

We are looking for a variety of testing methods, so feel free to test them however you would normally test a new component. Those who are selected will be shipped 1 box each of our new 30 cal 185 and 200 gr Hybrid bullets right away. We will need you to report your results to us by Aug 15th. Those who provide their results by then will receive another 3 boxes (300 bullets) of any Berger Bullets you choose as a Thank-You from us for your time and effort.

We encourage those who are selected to report their results on this forum. This testing program will be a regular part of our process, so keep an eye out for other opportunities down the road. Thank you all, and please let us know if you have any questions!

Warm Regards,
Michelle

Always like to test something new and hopefully better. I appreciate the work Berger has done to develop better preforming bullets. Information sent. Thanks, Mike

Sent E-Mail to see if this 185 bullet is the same as the #30418 bullet which i just received as a prize at the Pa Savage Shooter's Shootout

Michelle,
Saw your post and I have a brand new (just received) 308 F/TR from MT Guns. Am very interested, would be happy perform some tests, and just sent you an email with details.

Regards,
Steve

Michelle, I'd like to volunteer. I have access to a 1000yd range, and lots of time on my hands as I'm unemployed. Have Krags, a Garand, and my Madsen to toy with. Sending a pm.

Got the new hybrid 185s and 200s just a few minutes ago. Good looking bullets. The BCs are listed as .569 G1 / .291 G7 for the 185s and .621/.320 for the 200s.

Now the fun begins...

Got a reply from Berger that i didn't make the list of shooters for testing of these new Berger 185gr. bullets have in my hands a parcel box of 185 gr. bullets from the last testing, these shot very good now I'm wondering what the difference is between these and the new test bullets.
Have a box of 185gr. #30418 and I'm wondering how much difference these new bullets are, sadly as said i didn't make the list of people for the test will be interesting to see the test results if possible.

The 185s I got are PN# 30424 lot# 2971. May be a different design. The length is 1.438" (long suckers, VLDs are 1.380").

Yes they are a different design, do you have a box of the #30418 bullets to compare the bullets with, the ones i received for testing three years ago i weight sorted them found very little difference in weight and shoot very well in my FT/R with 1/12 twist

Just got the new hybrids today. Initial check 185's are lot#2971 and the 200's are lot#2923. I plan on shooting for groups and crono these this weekend both at 100 and 450 yds.

No, the only Berger .30 cal bullets I have on hand are the 175 and 210 VLDs. The #30418 bullets are the 185 gr BTHP with a tangent ogive (similar to Sierra Matchkings). These have a tangent ogive at the bearing surface and changes to a secant ogive. Kind of an elliptical or parabolic curve to the radius. Pretty neat concept. I'm gonna really enjoy testing these.

I'm sorry guys! I really wish we had enough to send to everyone. :( I'm trying to include as many people as possible in these, so don't be shy about writing again! Hope you're all having a great week so far!!

Thanks,
Michelle
