Berger 180 gr VLD Hunting or Target

I been looking at bullets and would like to ask if any here have had any luck with the 180 Berger Hunting or Target for that matter in competition. The stability chart likes this bullet matched with my 9 twist. I know the 180 and 184 Hybrids are the rage, and may go that route.

Thank you!

I worked up a load with the 180 VLDs in my long action 7SAUM. They were a little spicy @ 3050, but very accurate at 1600 yards. I need to explore it a bit more with a milder load and see if they still hold up. I run the 168 VLDs in my short action @ 3085, mild load, very accurate overlooked 7mm bullet imo. Both respond well to pointing and trimming.

I have shot several thousand Hunting 180VLD’s in my straight 284 Fclass barrels.

They are very consistent and easy to tune. I am very happy with them and have had some excellent results using them.

I have only recently started using Hybrids in a SAUM and would say the Hybrids have required a bit more messing around with seating depth.
The VLD’s I set at 0.015jam and tune from there. Very easy.

I’m using the 180 Targets in a F open 284 at moment running at a modest 2740, were easy to tune a very accurate..

Early testing with 180vld targ in my 9tw 284 Shehane 1000yd br lg is looking promising @ 2906 fps and .013 in. Have not tried vld hunting, but the hunting was better than targ in 6mm. Im waiting on @BartsBullets before i buy anything else to test. Started with 180 Hybrids and they shot pretty well, but likes vlds better. Barry.

Not a .284, but my stock sporter 30 06
Stacks 185 gr VLDhunters into sub .25" group.
VLD targets half that.

I've shot 10's of 1000's of VLD's and find them very easy to live with great results, wish I could say the same about the Hybrid but in my experience they've been a lot fussier.
I also just started using the 184 and finding them similar to the Hybrid, you can get them to work but not as easily as the VLD, for little to no gain, once I run the 184's out I doubt I'll purchase any more, and go back to the VLD.

I’ll be looking for another batch of VLD Targets for my next Barrel also, I’m running Targets in my older Barrel and Hybrids in my current new Barrel which are very good but I agree with the above, I had an easier time tuning the Targets so I’d like to see how they go in another barrel.
