Berger 156 in my 6.5 WSM??

Texas

Silver $$ Contributor
I typically shoot Berger 140 Hybrids in my 6.5 WSM with RL 25 at 65 grains.
I bought some 156 grainers to try and was wondering if anyone is shooting these and with what powders/charges? I'd like to stick with either RL25 or RL26 as I have lots of this and they shoot very well in my 6.5 and 7SWMs.

I'll do a pressure test/ladder test but wondering what powder range you guys are at and if the bullet is working for you.

I'm on my third 6.5wsm, each one is like its own wildcat! I've found that Reloder 25 is slower burning than Reloder 26 in this cartridge.
You'd be surprised Reloder 33 might be worth a try.

I was concerned about the length of the 156 compared to the 140s. Since you're used to the 65 gr. load, making an adjustment to the 156 shouldn't be hard.

According to the Berger Stability calculator, if you can work your loads up to about 3,000 fps you will simply lose a little BC but it will be stable in your 1:8" twist.

Re-25 will work but your case will not be full.
VVN-570 will work.
Norma 217 will work.

The only juggling will be determined by the seating depth.

guys anybody got velosities with 140 or 130 grs out of 6.5 wsm ? i'm interested i made a wildcat up on standard case non mag.

i built a wild cat on a 6 mm rem case for the long neck . i got 130 gr going 3286 with rl 22 . thanks for the info .

In my 6.5 saum with 24” bbl and only .081 fb it takes 56 gr Re-26 and 58 gr Re-25 and 58 gr H1000 to hit same velocity of 2905 ish all loaded to max AICS magazine length at sea level with RP brass and wolf primer

others report another node around 3040 with 156 berger

what is the 6.5 wsm vs 6.5 saum case capacity spread?

One of my 6.5 wsm loves 66.7gr H1000, 210m primers and 140edm .055" jump.
