Berger 155.5 grn bullets badly water marked.

I have a batch of the above projectiles that are badly water marked.
They have stains and some corrosion on them that looks like they were not dried properly after washing with something. The corrosion doesn't appear to affect the shooting ability but I am wondering about the imagined damage to my barrel.

Has anybody else had this phenomenon, or am I just lucky?

Had a batch recently w black marks on them. No corrosion just staining. When I ran my fingernail across it I could not feel it. I spoke w cust service. They said it is a biproduct the of the processing. It had something to do with the environmental regulations in CA where they make their bullets. It is random and they can't control it. They said it would not affect precision but they would exchange them if I wanted. I kept the bullets and they shot just fine.

You didn't mention the make of bullets...

... but, no it will not hurt your barrel.

Many years ago, Hornady bullets looked God-awful with black marks and black finger prints, because their final wash was not getting the bullets clean.

These days, most bullet makers run the bullets through corn cob polishing before boxing.

Berger does some final process with little steel (I think) balls, that or someone is adding little ball bearings to the boxes somewhere, I've gotten a lot of them in my 90VLD boxes

When Sierra was in Santa Fe Springs, we would drive up from San Diego and buy 168 and 190 MK seconds by the bucket. They were half the price of packaged bullets. There was a small percentage that had physical problems but the majority were blemished by water spots or staining. Once the nose fold bullets were sorted, they shot just as well as retail bullets. I would not spend any time worrying about these, just load and shoot them.

you mean like this , but this i can feel and it is gritty so i am very apprehensive in using them

harmless if its just water marks. if you dont want to see them, which I can understand, just run them thru some stainless media or in some corncob...easy and issue resolved.

I shoot Berger's Fullbores, 105, 180 and 230 grain Hybrids. Some lots have these marks, even worse than your image. It has not affected their performance in any way that I can measure. Mudcat's suggestion is appropriate. Run them through your polishing media and they'll look fine.
