I looked back at the original title to this thread and noticed it started about Berger 108's. I shoot 103 Vaportrails just for clarification. But, in my experience all fall in the "105 class" of bullets.
I won more than my fair share this year at 600yd IBS bench rest. I shot 3 barrels on my light gun 26,28 and 29". Velocity varied with weather and bore condition from 3000-3030fps depending on the day. I shot a 284 Shehane on the HG a couple weekends but the Dasher barrel was a 30". Shot 33.6 grains of LRM ~3070 and 32.8 Varget ~3050. I won with it but I wasn't happy with the vertical it had part of the time. I dropped it down to 32.6 ~3030 and increased neck tension and thought I had it figured out. After targets 5&6 at the nationals I figured out something I was doing was causing the groups to open up vertically.
As to these nodes, I wish I could help but I guess I don't really understand the term.
I shot 13 screamer groups this season, 5 of which were sub inch. Sorry, the smallest one is missing from the picture. it was a .70xx".
As far as winning, right now I'm 2nd in SOY points and won LG group, 6th score, 1st LG overall, 1st HG score, 2nd in group, 1st HG overall and 1st in 2 gun at the nationals. I was very fortunate this year.
