Berger 108BT in Dasher -> Speed?

Was going to try some Berger 108 HPBT in a dasher. Generally speaking - is there a particular speed (fps) range that seems to work well for the 108s?

Or does one just try various powder/seating depth combinations and not worry about the speed?
thanks,

Barrel lingth and powder and how hard do you want to shoot them also FB .

in my 30 inch barrel, with a .155 freebore, I have been getting right around 3000-3010 fps. About 33.2 grains, but seems like 33-33.5 gr of Varget works well for most with a freebore similar or longer than .155.

Pardon me for stepping in here, but I felt the need to put to rest some misinformation about bullets preference for a certain velocity.
I called Berger tech this week just to make sure I had the correct information before posting. They confirmed what I thought to be true.
"BARRELS have harmonics, bullets do NOT"!
The only way to tell what your BARREL likes is to run a ladder. One three shot group is statistically meaningless and may even send you hunting in the wrong direction. I have found that the average of three three shot groups gives me the most reliable information. More groups than that didn't add any meaningful information.
Jump is just as important as velocity, so follow Berger's recommendation on how to find what your BARREL likes.

I here these folks talk about these nodes in velocity how many of these folks actually shoot benchrest competition at these higher nodes of 3025 an 3050fps.

I dont know of anybody shooting them in short range BR. But in 600 yard and 1000 yard, almost everybody I know is running them 3000 to 3025. I see about 50 Dashers shoot every other week and I talk to guys at Montana and the other clubs around the country. I have ran them as high as 3100 but they don't shoot good there. Matt

I would think that brass would not live long.
Like I said almost everybody is running them 3000 plus. I know guys that have 25 plus firings on cases. Of coarse we anneal regularly and some anneal every firing. Most guys are running a .135 or .155 freebore. I use a .155 freebore and only ever had one barrel I couldn't easily reach 3000 with. Matt

I agree with Matt, my reamer was .155 fb, cci 450 and R15.... Brass lasted forever. I annealed every 5th firing. Heavy gun would run 3030 fps and my light guns I was running at 2975 - 3000 depending on the barrel. John

Do you shoot long range BR? Almost every Dasher I ever seen had nodes they shot good at. I don't care what Berger says. I am talking about the guys that win the big shoots and set records. First off a Dasher shoots about 7 to 8 feet per second per tenth of powder. So the nodes mentioned cover about 50 feet which would represent almost half a grain of powder. The nodes in some Dashers are pretty big where they will shoot. Most of them shoot pretty good at the upper end loads. Matt

I run the 105 at medium pressure at 3070
With H4350 30" barrel . Larry

I shoot the BR-DX with 104 Ballistic Idiot Bullets and H4350 is a better mousetrap IMO also,,I run 36-36.2 depending on powder lot and get 3020 fps with ES in single digits and brass lasts forever,,

33 grs Varget shoots about the same but at 2940 and is harder on brass and seems to heat my big fat Brux bbl up hotter and quicker,,

26"-30" Dashers run from 3000-3070 for me. Most used set of brass has 13 firings on it and pockets are just fine.
I've never really cared too much about speed, just always did some load testing and picked whatever seemed to work the best. That being said, mine could be in the same window as everyone else and i just don't know it because i haven't checked. For me, I shoot for groups and dont stress too much over a speed number, groups win matches. I will say, if you're looking for one of those winners Matt was talking about, I quoted him above.

I'm in the same boat David as far as working up the best groups and not paying attention to speed. Before I was lucky enough to get a labradar I would just chrono after I was done because I was curious. By the way, whatever way you go about it works. I wouldn't change a thing LOL.
