Benelli cast off shims

Is there a way to make my own cast off shims without having to order the kit? I'm right handed and need right cast. Can't I take a little off pistol grip to get the desired cant?

Yes you can. But, it is something that someone with the know how should do. Gunstock fitting is not for the beginner. Don't ask me how many shotgun stocks I have screwed up.

My suggestion is to buy the kit.

The Benelli 12 gauge stock adjustment kit at Midwest Gun Works is in stock @ $29.00. I didn't check for other gauges or on all the different models to see if they were the same or not.

Another thing to think about -- I went for years thinking I needed a bunch of cast-off, but it turned out I was mounting the gun wrong, trying to get my eye flat on the rib. I eventually learned to shoot with my eye higher above the rib, so that my cheekbone is not in the way of the stock preventing the rib from lining up with my eye. I no longer need much cast-off with most stocks and I am a much better shot.

I would get the kit and go with the shim that gives you just a bit of cast-off.
