Benchrest Stock For Savage 12 6BR

I have the bone stock Savage 12 BR and I'm interested in moving the Action/Barrel etc into a true Benchrest Stock.
I'm interested in a stock that will track level, during recoil and return to battery.
The current Savage Stock slopes in the rear and while it does return close to it's original starting point, I'm not happy with the sloped buttstock.

Any suggestions about a BR Stock that will work with my action/barrel setup? I would prefer a stock already inletted and ready for me to bed them into the stock.

I'll be shooting this in 600 & 1000 IBS LG/HV Classes

Thanks

Being a Savage shooter do this once, cry for 6 months (while waiting) and then don't look back. McMillan fiberglass stock jnletted for your stock, a little grinding for trigger and you are good to go.
Believe me been there done that. I tied to modify a stock, I bought a laminate Br stock, you name it I tried it, then I tried the "Edge" from McMillan and then another. Now I won't buy anything else.

Stocks will make you a LRB stock that tracks flat.

I was looking at the Sharp Shooter stocks, also.
Thinking i'll pass on those.
If you check out the pics, there is an angle, albeit slight, to the buttstock, and the forestock.
Wouldn't track flat.

Don’t sell the Dog tracker too short, they are pretty darn good- I have one.
The bigger Elephant in the room is trying to compete at a thousand yards with the Savage action.

Why does everyone poo on the Savage actions??!!

The guy to beat at my local matches is using a Stevens 200 action.
Shoots better than his BAT, and other peoples custom actions.
All shooting 6BR.
He also wins with the 30BR barrel.

I will take your advice and look further into the stock though!
Thanks!

Because it's like comparing Ford to Chevy. Everybody in our club swears you cant be competitive shooting a Savage, awe who cares I love em and have many and twice as many barrels to swap around (easily) and shoot different calibers. For me I sort of shoot bench rest but for me I use a F-class bipod and rear bag, good enough for what I do.

Take a look at the equipment list from sanctioned match’s and you’ll see a Savage occasionally,
From my prospective as a Savage hold out the ignition system is lacking in technology ,clunky & slow in comparison when trying to send rounds during your condition.

Nice looking stock who makes it ?

I enjoy my Savage 12 6BR though wish for better triggers.
Had @Grimstod do my bolt lift and firing pin bushing.

I share the desire for a better stock.

Ended up ordering a Richards Microfit which will arrive when there is a solar eclipse during a comet.

Till then, I shoot with a short bag turned around to mitigate the drop.

I have been hearing this stuff about Savage actions for many years now.
I have two Savage PTA's and both in SSS stocks. Both have allowed me to do VERY well in matches.
There has also been a bunch of guys in my club that started on Savage PTA for long range BR and did extremely well. Most of these guys have sold their Savages and bought VERY expensive custom guns. All of them immediately shot bit better. But, after a while they settled down to their prior results! It seems shooting IS a mental exercise!
I personally had no problem with the accutrigger but I still changed both gun's triggers, one a SAV-2 and the other an SSS Evolution. Both are excellent triggers with the Evolution the best. But, in retrospect, I would be just as happy with the accutrigger.
