Just finished this stock for my .221 Fireball. It is really more than just a .221 Fireball, it uses a BAT S action that is fitted for barrels chambered in the already mentioned .221 Fireball, .17 Mach IV and .14/.221 Eichelberger. The stock is Mappa Burl with a Black Palm butt plate. Enjoy

Very nice job.
Never heard of that wood but it reminds me of the old days we used to use cotton twine soaked in thin oil wrapped around curly maple stocks and take a torch to it to give it the dark lines on the maple.

Good lookin piece.

That is absolutely gorgeous. Did you shape it yourself? Are the dark lines from laminating separate pieces together? Is there something in the gap like a fiber weave for stability? What kind of finish is on it?

Thank you. Yes I made it myself, the only lamination is the two straight lines, they are laminated with carbon fiber cloth, the rest is the grain of the wood. The finish is automotive clearcoat.

Beautiful - a rifle that you can have a connection/romance!!!

Wood working question - Did you do anything special in prepping / stabilizing the Black Palm?

I;m building a 221 FB rifle and would like to hear how it shoots group size . Your gun is absolutely gorgeous.
So far the best load has consistently shot 5 shot groups at 100 yards producing a .26 group average using 50 gr. V-Max bullets in a 1:13 twist barrel.
