Benchrest Action

Im building a benchrest rifle and wondering on what Stiller action to use. 300WSM and single shot, was wondering which one would be the best to use. thanks

I would call Russ or Curtis at Stiller to see what they recommend for the level of shooting that you plan. I like Stiller actions - I use a Predator model but I am not into "real" benchrest.

Cort

I would call them directly as they know exactly what you would need.

I know from experience that any action stillers sells will work quite well for any type of accuracy shooting. I say this because i have had several of there predator actions and they all shot one hole groups with a good barrel. they just will!!!! Lee

Twin_Thing,
I think Russ will suggest the predator or the P-1000 but as others have suggested call russ, he is a heck pf a nice fella to talk to over the phone but remember the shooting season has started and he is usually the only one answering the phone and he likes to talk so call early, it may be easier to email him he is good about returning emails.

What's your discipline? Group or Score? Short, Medium, or Long Range? Competitive or Casual benchrest?

Mostly group and long range. mostly casual banchrest but i would mind tryin some competitions that arent to far from home

When you call Monday morning, ask for Curtis. After you ask all your questions about the action, ask him what he said after his very last shot today in the Unified Texas VFS Championship. ;D

have a friend who has a P1000 rblpre mag boltface, new in box that he would sell. wants a 308 boltface for a different build.

You might consider sending your barrel to Stiller when you order the action. If they have time, they will fit and chamber barrels to their actions. I sent Stiller two identical 6mm 8" twist Bartlein 5R HV barrels along with my 6BR reamer when I ordered a Viper SS Drop Port. Not only does the barrel (I have only shot one) shoot extremely well but the workmanship is outstanding. The two attached images show the breech end of the spare barrel. Image one is the barrel serial number and manufacturing date engraved on the barrel bottom. Image two is the chamber information engraved on the left barrel side, just above the stock line. The barrel info is a nice touch. All other machining aspects are excellent.

Thats beautiful country, I would imagine there some competition of some sort close to you, go to the competition thread here on 6br and start a new thread asking if there are any shoots next to you, I am sure you will get some response.
