Bench Source trick

I like this machine but there are three things I don't like about it. Just figured out a simple fix for one of them.
The slot where the hot casings fall through dosent let you put a deep pan under it without having some casings bounce out onto to the table top. I was going to bend up an angled alum chute and screw it on so can set a pan on the table/bench distanced away and not under the top plate..
And then today I realized that there is a space between the body and the top plate of the machine. The lip of my metal baking pan will jam into that slot and collect all the brass without any bouncing out. Just need to watch underneath and occasionally scoop the pile outwards so it dosent pile up underneath to jam the turntable and cook a casing.
Tried it and worked great. I have 2 pans so when one got a bit full I just did a quick swap between drops. However I will still bend up a chute one day so dont have to tend to the casing pile ups. Pics::

Allowing the brass to constantly pile up on top of each other does not allow the brass to cool. You should dump it out after a few onto a pizza sheet to separate and allow them to cool. Dropping hot case after hot case on top of each other is not a suggested practice. You are creating a big heat sink. Touch the bottom of that cake pan after you done running and you will see what I mean.

Don't get me wrong. I too use a cake pan to catch my brass off my annealer but I dump them out after they start to Pile up on top of each other.

Nice idea. I took the less cost effective approach to solving that exact problem when I had my Benchsource. I sold the thing and bought an AMP annealer. Problem solved.

Well I think fabbing up a nice little 45 deg casing chute to roll them down into a cookie pan will be the ticket.

I dont think the rate of cooling has any effect on the brass once it drops down past the anneal temp leaving the flame.

Btw one caveat...try not to do what I did once and get a primed casing mixed up in your annealing batch!

I probably don't do the volume that many others do. My method is to soak a towel in cold water, squeeze out the excess, double it over and slide it under the unit. As the casings pile up, I keep sliding the towel forward from underneath the annealer. Brass doesn't bounce, stays on the towel, and cools a little faster.

Sometimes setting up the torches for different height cases could be difficult especially if your moving back and forth from caliber to caliber. Use stacks of washers under the torch holder to set the height and just make a note how many washer are used for each case to set the height. It is repeatable there after.
