Dillon 650 and 750 Considered

My 650 is driving me nuts!!!! I never had a problem with casings lining up with the dies till recently. The first station, the resizing/decapping one, about 50% of the time on the upstroke the casing get's hung up on the lip/side of the sizing die. All my other dies line up perfectly. It seems that the casing tips just enough to not line up. I replaced the casing plate, thinking the old one must be worn out. I replaced the block that pushes the casing into the casing plate. I've cleaned everything I don't even know how many times. I go real slow on releasing the handle after setting the primer, and go real slow on the upstroke. Anyone have any similar experiences and found what's causing this?

Call Dillon. They're open today. You paid a premium for the press in part because of their warranty. It's likely that they can narrow down the issue and get you the right part over the phone. If not, you may have to send it in. Either way, you should never have to pay for any replacement part on that press.

Case in point: I went in there to get a primer cup for one of my Square Deals. I wasn't paying attention and let the primers fill up and they backed up into the press, caused it to jam up just enough to get out of time, and nicked the edge of the cup. I told the guy this, and he said the warranty covers that. I told him I would like to pick up a second one to have a spare, he said that's under warranty too. As he was writing me up, I asked about the cost of the powder tube on the dispenser. He asked what was wrong with mine. I said I got in the bad habit of leaving powder in it and it looks really bad. He said that's under warranty and gave me a new one.

Their presses don't always run perfect, but if you give them a shot they will make it right.

you will need their alignment tool to get this right. ask for it, it is free

That did it!!! All I needed to do was lower that rod so that it barely pushed the casing into the plate, so that it wouldn't tilt back when it was released! Thanks. I've had that machine 5 years and never needed to make that adjustment.

The steel rod likely wore a groove into the plastic surface that resulted in the cam pushing the case too far. Dillon will send a replacement cam slide at no charge if requested.

Thinking about upgrading, would just buy the base machine because I have everything that I need, anyone done this? Did you sell the 650 or keep both? Could do one for large primers and one for small? Just some thoughts so give me yours. "Disclaimer " I don't load a ton of stuff on it as I'm shooting BR so all on my single stage presses.
Thanks

Both the machines are pretty close in operation and accessories. But the priming system is very different.

If you have a 650 I would get another just so the machines are basically twins. One less flavor of quirks to learn.

Thats said, I have two 550s that I load all my long range ammo on. I have no problems at all with the 550/750 priming system. I know some people have issues with theirs and wish they had a 650.

Well I thought it was just the opposite! I thought the 750 had/has the better priming system

I have two 650's. One for small primers, one for large primers. No experience with the 750 and probably never will as my 650's are doing well.

My reasoning for wanting the 750 was the priming system, if you have worked with the 650 you know the p

Some people hate the 550/750 priming system and others like it. I am in the like it camp.

I load lots of ammo on 1050s and 1100s so a shuttle sliding back and forth doesent make my head hurt.
