Bench Source Annealer

I have a BS and when I bought it it was a highly recommended annealer. Now that I'm getting it online, I'm finding that the adjustments are very touchy and it's either tight or loose. Then when you add the weight of the hoses in, it's even more touchy. Not to mention, my hands are raw from trying to keep everything tight. Anyone else experienced this?

My first thoughts are I made the wrong choice. There is another annealer I was considering due to it being a gravity feed, single torch setup. I don't even want to consider switching out at this point!

Mike, I have a BS also, I rigged it up with dual torches & hoses to a "Y" then got the hose to connect to a 20# tank from a grill, works great!
I'm unsure which adjustments you are having a problem with, Torch clamps or the timer dial?

That's the setup I'm running. The torch clamps are what I'm referring to.

Here are some pics of what I'm dealing with.

And obviously the torch tips are not setup properly in reference to the brass.

My torches are model#UL2317 & they snug right up no problem, very easy to adjust
BERNZOMATIC brand
I started out with that brand, but in the manual light. I was able to determine that one was actually defective. So I ordered another two of the below brand that cross referenced.

I have a Bench Source also. In the past I had trouble with the torches, Bernzomatic and other similar brands, my problem was getting the torches to work. After some research I discovered that the torches are designed to be used upright. I made some modifications to the torch set up to get a reliable flame which also took off a lot of weight from the clamps, much better now.

My torches also lay horizontal so they dont throw as much heat down the shoulder, focuses more on just the neck & also reduces the hoses pulling on them,
I wonder if the different brand of torches are a tiny bit smaller diameter & is requiring you to have to really tighten down hard to be able to hold them securely? I think the BERNZOMATIC torches are exactly 1/2" diameter

I'm thinking they are. "Made in China".
