Asking for your wisdom and guidance
Ok, I am/ going to develop a 300 watherby load for NA, elk, deer and possibly moose -if the tag gods are kind.
Here are the facts.
1. I am want a 180 gr load.
2. The rifle is made by Jarrett, so the chamber is not a long throat.
3. I can load to the box length as this is a hunting rifle
4. I've done loads with IMR 7828 and will use the powder
5. I would like to work with Nosler Partitions or AB's or Swift Scirroco
- Scirocco's have given fair velocity and groups, a range of 1/2 to 1-1/2
- ABs are tighter
6. I am going to use a wilson case length gague (adjustable) and will folllow the push back or bump .002 rule when resizing.
7. I use Redding dies with Comp seater
8. I hand prime - Federal 215's
9. I use Norma (brand new now) brass and after initial re-size of teh 50 rds 37 are .003 in concentricity with the remainder being .001
What consideration should I have when loading for belted vs standard bottleneck cartridges ??
