Bell and Carson stock?

I'm gathering parts to put together a hunting rifle on a Rem 700SA. These stocks seem to be more cost effective than most others. Has anyone used them? I'd appreciate your opinion. Thanks

I have a Remington 700 in 7-08 in a Bell & Carlson.
The stock has done its job through more than 25 years of hunting.
No issues.

I had a .308 700SA in a B&C M40 BDL stock for awhile. It was good. My switch was driven by a desire to have a detachable magazine and an adjustable cheek piece. Otherwise, I had no complaints. It was not bedded in any way. I just bolted the action in. Even in retrospect, any inaccuracy was based on my inadequacies as a shooter.

I have several on hunting rifles Rem 700 and Tikkas). One need some inletting and bedding but its wasn't a big deal to me. They are good for the money IMO.

Have the B & C M-40 w/bedding blocks on both my .260AI & .308 REM 700 custom hunting rifles. Both are just drop-in and go shoot. Both will shoot 1/4 inch groups with good load development from a Harris bi-pod and rear bag.

Both rifles built by ODCR (WSMNUT) here on the site. He has built me 7 with another one in the oven now and two for my best friends here in Bruns. Co. N C.

EDIT: So far everything he has built and sent here has shot exceptionally well and one of my friends rifles that he built is in another B & C M-40 stock as well.

Understand that many of my decisions are predicated on cost effectiveness, but I must say that B&C are my favorite. In my mind they give up nothing to HS Precision, and the ergonomics of the HS are problematic for me, both Remington and Savage. Palm swells are too big and reach to the trigger blade is not good with my body build. The B&C are about perfect. I’m trying to like chassis but I’m just not there. Give me a B&C & I’m golden.

I put a B&C on my 284 Win "Mauser" build.
Stock fits well, both the action and me.
No flexing in the forestock. Unlike my Tupperware Savage stocks.

I have used the BC M40 several times through several different builds. I also got a BC hunter style stock for my brother Ruger American as well. For the price, you can’t beat them. They have very clean lines, feel good in the hands, and definitely improve accuracy over a factory stock.

I have seen them “used” for sale on the forum for under $200!! I got one that was still new in the box for $180!! The deals are out there. Definitely worth it.

Y’all have sold me. One question—it seems most are using the M40 model. I like the looks of the straight sporter a lil better, but I’m concerned the comb would be too low for a big scope. What drove your decision on the m40?

Larger barrel channel, higher comb, and I think it looks better than their other models. The first two are real reasons. Last one is opinion.

I chose the M40 because it looked “more traditional” to me…not sure what that even means. But I liked the way it looks like a…well, M40.

The stock will be pretty low for a big scope either way, in my experience.

I agree on the comparison to H & S as well. The B & C just simply feels and looks better to me. The M-40 is the cats meow for fit and feel with no bedding needed for accuracy.

I was looking for a H&S stock for a long action Savage and they are very rare. I did find on with one of those God Awful ASCI bottom metal the 1 1/2" clip release and a big ugly clip that stuck out the bottom. So I tried a Bell&Carlson with aluminum bedding. I was very pleased with the stock except LOP was 14.25" and was too long but to my surprise after talking to B&C service dept. It was easy to cut .75" off with no problem at all. It is a great stock and to look at it there is no difference than the H&S except about the price. About $150.00 less. I a very pleased with it.

If you buy the M40 you won't have a problem those two Nightforce nxs scopes in my pic are with the 56 mil objectives not a problem at all cheek weld is perfect in the prone position

How did B&C recommend to cut the stock shorter, if you don’t mind sharing? Thanks!

Buy the one with the aluminum bedding block. Best hunting stock for the $$$.
