bell and Carlson or Hogue?

I have a howa 1500 with a crappy stock and would like to go with a bell and carlson medalist or a hogue any of you have experience with either of these?

Bell & Carlson would be my choice, I have used them for Savage and Remington builds with no regrets.

Is this the one you are talking about? http://www.shootersdiscount.com/cart/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=1614

Or this one: http://www.shootersdiscount.com/cart/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=860

I do sugest skim bedding, and torque the action bolts.

furhntr: Stock choice depends a lot on what you want to do with the rifle. I have 2 of the B&C Medalist "Tactical" stocks on 2 Savage rifles. I've been using them for several years in benchrest match competition & they were not the best choice. I bought them because they were available without a long wait. They were designed primarily for F-Class, firing from the prone position, on the ground. I believe they would also be too heavy for carrying in the field if that's your intent. So, bottom line---- What do you want to do with the rifle? p.s.: Bought all 3 of my B&C stocks from "Shooters Discount, Summit MS". Great people to deal with.

I've used three different B&C stocks for various custom Howa 1500s - all have worked quite well. The Weatherby-style sporter stock (#6501 for long action, #6505 for short) is intended for use with a sporter-weight bbl., and has a pressure pad at the forend tip. So if you're using a heavier contour bbl., best use either their #2998, #6550 or #6560 for short actions. These are all Medalists with aluminum bedding block. Unfortunately, the Weatherby-style sporter is the only stock they list for the long Howas.

guys my intent is a coyote rifle, I have a 20in heavy barrel and I don't really want a big and bulky varmint stock. I hope this helps. I am leaning towards the 6560 what do you think?

Sorry to take so long in getting back to you on the #6560 - I used one with a short 1500 Howa & Rem varmint contour bbl in 6XC and liked it fine. It's a good one, comfortable & light enough to be used as a field/hunting stock.
