beginner

I am somewhat of a beginner to shooting and I am looking to buy a new gun, but am unsure of what kind of gun to get. I currently own a remington nylon 66 .22. i would prefer to buy a rifle over a shotgun but am open to suggestions. also i want something with more "results" than a .22. if anyone has any suggestions they would be appreciated.

Jason we will need a little more info on what type of shooting you would like to do.Hunting,target, plinking ect. If hunting what type, if target what type also.

Plain Jane Model 700 Remington in .223, with a middle of the road Nikon scope. Please don't plan on hunting deer with it, if so go up to at least a .243.

help newbe im not a pro however i do recommend the savage a good shooting rifle & with a long action & with so meany aftermarket parts you can ever do your self with,help)have done change barrels & boltfaces to good from 30/06 for deer to 223 for fun ore target fox ex. safeshooting
