Beginner 22 match rifle for benchrest

What would be a good factory competition 22 rifle? I see the prices of the custom rifles and figure there must be a more reasonably priced factory rifle that can compete in benchrest matches

In ARA Unlimited you will need a custom rifle. You can compete with less but you won't be competitive. Buy a used rifle, you don't need to spend 4 or 5K.

In sporter or factory class, cz-457 mtr, tika t1x and Bergara are commonly used.

What benchrest organization?

If it’s ARA they have a factory class that’s less expensive than unlimited class.

If it’s a different Benchrest organization then there will be different constraints

It would have to be a factory class. How about one of the Anshutz or Weihrauch?

You can find the rules for factory rifles on the ARA website.

Basically all pure target rifles are excluded, Anschutz, Walther, win52, etc. Read the rules.

Another 50 yard competition is N50 and it also has a factory class so you can compete fairly inexpensively.....until you discover high end front and rear rests and high end ammo like Lapua.

FWIW you can get in with less expensive stuff. Although I would now suggest a CZ, I bought a Savage target rifle (Mk ll BTV) since I am/was only interested in competing with myself......but

In my opinion, you can’t beat the CZ 457 MTR I hunted for over a year and a half try to find one finally did I shoot great Bill

I would get a Tika I haven't heard anyone complain on how they shoot.
