Well yeah! What else would you use?On a 300 win mag sporter? OUCH!![]()
Pretty bold statement. I have two Leupold Competitions bought the second year they were out that both shoot about 25 matches a year from 100 to 1000yds. They have never needed to go back for any service. I have a Nightforce BR that I love even thought it has been back twice. Also a Vortex Golden Eagle that went back when brand new due to factory error of overly heavy grease in adjustment knobs. Scopes are good or lacking on an individual basis. I have received excellent service every time on the scopes I have returned. I think to say never about long time quality companies is a statement that is a bit harsh. Especially about companies who have been long time supporters of the shooting sports. I for one believe the "the scope is bad" is often just a convenient excuse we use.Do not get a Ziess or Leupold if you plan on dialing. They WILL NOT hold up, especially the Zeiss.
i once remember a guy that came to a shooting clinic.. he was shooting in the aura of F-Class but his rifle wasn't set up properly! Ummm yeah.. it was a Remington .300 Ultra Mag.. and his scope was set for bench or hunting conditions.. not prone.. by the end of the day he not only had joined the "Half Moon Association", he had a huge pumpkin knot over is right eye.. talk about a glutton for punishment.. ouch! The March with the top end of 80 would be interesting. For myself I appreciate and support those who do and try not to support those who don't. I expect shooting items and supplies are like everything else built, there will be some problems. What is important to me is how those problems are handled. If problems are ignored or not addressed that is a problem, but then specifics should be reported.I don't get all jacked up about companies "supporting" shooting sports. What the hell? It's in their best interest to support the shooting sports. It's no different than car manufacturers supporting auto racing. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday was a mantra for decades. These companies aren't doing it out of altruism. They're doing it out of the COLD HARD CASH that comes to them when Joe Blow wins a match with their equipment, ammo, bullets, powder, primers, scope, shooting jacket, glove, peep sight, AD NAUSEUM. If someone wants to point out their faults or shortcomings, MORE POWER TO THEM. The business world is about competition. If a scope fails, other shooter want to know about it. I don't see anyone complaining about the crying and sniveling when it comes to bitching about this or that car or truck. Why should the shooting companies be any different?

We now return you to our regular programming.
I would go with a Leupold 3xi 6.5-20x50 With Target Turrets it truly is a sleeper scope or a Vx 5 or Vx6. If you want a deal on these look me up.Does anyone have any use with or insight on the Zeiss Conquest 3-18x50 Scope?
I am starting my baby steps into long range shooting. I have a Sako M995 in .300 Win Mag that I plan to work my way out to 1000+ yards. Would love to go farther in the future but like I said, baby steps.
Any other suggestions for a quality scope are welcome. Trying to stay under $2k.
I haven't had any optical trouble @60, I run it @50 because its faster to get in the eye box..I haven't noticed any issue yet, but I will say that I have only been to the range a couple of times with it so far and it is winter.
There are quite a few competitors at the matches I have gone to that are using them. They have commented that they will on some occasions dial it back to 50 or 40 power.
It is because of the numerous recommendations by these shooters who compete nationally and other here on the forum that I purchased the GE. I am very happy with its performance and quality.
On my first outing I did a box test and the scope returned to the starting point perfectly.
The turret has positive clicks at least after I exercised them a bit. From other posts the initial softness is a result of the grease that Vortex uses on the O rings under the turrets. A little exercise of the turrets or remove and wipe some of the grease off and they are very positive.
Additionally, you cannot go wrong with Vortex's warranty.
Hope that this helps.

Hi- I am a sales rep and sell Zeiss to accounts in parts of MO, KS, and IL. I've had several of these scopes and used them with very positive results. The scopes I had all dialed up and down and box tested accurately. The glass on them is very good IMO. There is a ton of elevation available and they are very lightweight. I loved the zero stop.
Also, there are some members on longrangehunting.com who have used the Conquest V6 and posted about their experience there.
Not sure. I've only been selling the line for a year and a half and every elevation turret I've seen on a Conquest has markings. Now, the old Conquest MCs may have been different. Also, could your friend have purchased one of the hunting models (capped elevation knobs) and upgraded to a target turret? Or could he have upgraded a turret to a caliber specific turret like a Kenton? I can't think of any of their scopes I've ever seen without markings on a target turret, not to say they're not out there, just haven't personally seen one.Why do some of their scopes come with an elevation turret with no numbers and to get one, the scope has to be sent back and have a numbered turret installed for an exorbitant price? A friend of mine bought a Conquest and had to do spend another $75 to have this done. From this chair, pretty stupid to have a turret with no numbers and like the say on Shark Tank, "for that reason, I'm out" on Zeiss and YMMV.
The Conquest he's asking about is a Conquest V6. These are made in Germany by Zeiss and the 3-18 models have about 100 MOA of adjustment.forget the conquest. I had several that i sold for the same reason. the worst thing is that they only have 45 min of elevation. If you put a 20 MOA rail, you will have trouble zeroing at 100 or 200 yards. they are not long range shooting scopes. skip it.
What about Kahles? I have, use and love their binos.
On a 300 mag. light gun ??? it was taping me on a 6.5 x 47....... Jim
