Before I drop $1500+ on a scope.....

Does anyone have any use with or insight on the Zeiss Conquest 3-18x50 Scope?

I am starting my baby steps into long range shooting. I have a Sako M995 in .300 Win Mag that I plan to work my way out to 1000+ yards. Would love to go farther in the future but like I said, baby steps.

Any other suggestions for a quality scope are welcome. Trying to stay under $2k.

A friend of mine bought a Zeiss and the elevation turret had no numbers on it, just click marks and had to send it back and pay for a numbered turret. Paraphrasing what is said in Shark Tank, "for that reason, I'm not a Zeiss fan". Personal preference is Nightforce.

Any Nightforce scope. I recently bought an Athlon cronus btr and it is a great value IMO. Votex razor hd gen II used or on sale. I picked up a razor hd amg for $2149 on sale this past xmas. It is still on backorder but at that price, I can wait. The Vortex viper pst gen II is also a great scope and might be your best option to get into longe range. I like the first focal mrad.

Wouldn't let me link a page so, this looks very interesting in what you guys are suggesting. It was on the Euro Opic sit for $2028.00....Screenshot_2018-01-04-06-47-09.png

Depending on the size of your target, a 1000 yd. mission may be better served with an 8-32 NXS. With regards to the 5.5-20, I would go with the 56mm objective. The 56s also have more reticle options.

forget the conquest. I had several that i sold for the same reason. the worst thing is that they only have 45 min of elevation. If you put a 20 MOA rail, you will have trouble zeroing at 100 or 200 yards. they are not long range shooting scopes. skip it.
