Bedding scope base

Just received a steel picatiny scope base for my r700 and I planned on bedding it anyways, but it's slightly sway-backed. No twist or anything, just can see it when looking down the side.

For bedding this, should I bed and tighten down one end first, then the other to try and get it straight? Or should I try to straighten it off the rifle with a 3 point fixture in a heavy bench vise?

It was an eBay purchase, used, so I can't just send it back for a new one.

If it's not straight and you screw it to a straight receiver it's going to add stress to the receiver.

Come on , all the time trying to shoot small little groups and your asking if using a flawed product is OK . Buy a new , unmolested , non flawed one , LIFES TOO SHORT ( barrel life too ) to be chasing gremlins after its sighted , bedded , ammo loaded , etc

It's a slight bend, I may try it in the vise with a 3 point jig. This is a paycheck to paycheck budget build, so was hoping to not have to spend more.

I spread a touch of devcon between the base and receiver, screw it down and leave it. If you ever need to remove it add some heat and it pops off, but it never loosens on its own

It will be bedded, just wasn't sure about doing so when in its "before" pic, now there will not be any undue stress added from the base. I'll use a touch of mold release on the action and screws when bedding, but not on the base.

Bedding a scope rail is a way of making sure your STRAIGHT scope rail isn't bent by pulling down against an imperfect fit against the action. It is important to have a straight rail because your scope is straight you want the scope rings alighned perfectly so that you don't put forces on your scope causing ring marks at best and scope malfunction at worst.

If you don't care if your scope rail is straight or not, then it is a waste of time and effort to bed it.

Screws all went in smooth, rail laid nearly perfect on the action (they almost never do on a r700 anyways), bedded with JB weld last night and fitted and glued in the loading ramp while I was at it.

I plan on using Burris rings with inserts, but I will make sure the rings are aligned well. Do the Burris ring inserts require lapping? I've not used them before.
