Bedding Savage Axis action to Boyds stock?

Different from most with recoil lug separate from action in stock. Who has done this and what method did you use? Pictures help, lol.

One alternative that I'm trying is to face off the front of my Axis receiver to use a standard Savage 110/Remington 700 style recoil lug, then bed as normal.

It lets you use a flat ground recoil lug so the barrel nut pressure is even 360° around the receiver/barrel threads and it's captured so no extra piece to deal with once it is installed.

It might not be a huge improvement but it eliminates a couple variables.

Done dozens when they first came out , real easy , especially if you dupes a std width recoil lug . i used a midway small savage mandrel , I usually dialed in the receiver ( with mandrel attached ) using the bottom action screw and the upper scope base screws , only if needed , usually it wasn't .
Just trim back to the face and take a little more to clean up where the receiver overhang was .

One thing I've read on another forum is to make the recoil lug part of the stock by glueing it in. If I'm not mistaken you can only bed the from action screw due to the trigger design. Keep in mind I have no experience with bedding an Axis action so I could be completely wrong on every point.

You remove the old recoil lug from the Boyd's stock , some were glued in some just pushed in ? Some didn't come with any . They changed a little as they got the axis pattern running .Mill or dremel out a little deeper and clean up the sides if using parallel sided recoil lug . I bed the front and the rear screw but leave the tang free floating. The rear action screw will hold the trigger/ safety assembly tight . You can also adapt the red blade ac triggers to these .
