Bedding plugs and a little 'MacGyver-ing'

I use these tapered silicone stoppers fairly often when doing bedding...especially with factory actions. They come in sizes from 1/16" to 3/4". They're stupid cheap on Amazon.

We're hosting a baby shower at our home tomorrow and I've been busier than a one armed paper hanger getting stuff done. Last evening, the surface light on our microwave over the stove dies. No biggie, just unscrew it and plop in a new one. The glass comes out and sure as sh!+.....the metal socket stays in the outlet. No room...can't even see it to get a 90 degree needle nose in it.

I remember the tapered plugs. I shoved one in and quicker than you can say 'leftie-loosie'...the metal screwed right out.

Some days it's the little things.

Great thinking Mr. Al. That is what the working folks do, they can think on there head. Not surprised, but many of the young folks would never figured it out. Thanks for posting Mr. Al.

I was working under the hood on my GMC a few years ago and found a little nozzle on the crank case overflow had cracked and blown out. I was refused this single part by multiple dealerships, because they wanted me to buy the entire air intake for $770.

I stared at it a long time…. Then cut the head off a retired Lapua 223 case and used it as the replacement. That was about 70,000 miles ago.

That's impressive! I've got 6 kids myself, so I'm hoping that lots of grandkids start appearing soon.
Yeh, that’s more college educations you will have to pay for

I suspect many of my fellow members are like me. I do not have one minute of college. But when my two Grand Daughters graduate this year and next year from Texas Tech, that will be the fifth and sixth college degree I have paid for.

Of course, I have ulterior motives. I get them all educated so none of them will be living with me:)

great tip, Al. You are right. Sometimes it’s the little things.

I just dealt with the light in the freezer doing the same thing, except it blew up in my hand, leaving g the metal socket with broken glass sticking out. Also, the bulb points away from the door and is recessed in a little cubby. That was fun to try and get out! I used a fingerling potato while holding the door switch down, lol!

Great tip and much safer than granny's potato (that is conductive).
I've got some of those at the bench, now some will go in the kitchen junk drawer.
