Bedding job

I have a wood stock model 12 savage that I let master class stocks do a bed job on. That was a couple years ago and no problems. I have had the rifle apart for a couple months waiting on a barrel decision from me. New barrel came today and using the same recoil lug, stock, and action the lug is very very tight going in. I can get bolts started but I’m afraid to put much pressure on them. If I sit it out in the sunlight do you think it will help or hurt ? Thanks

I took the lug off and it will just barely start in the stock. I can not push it in

Possibly the lug is slightly out of alignment from previous.

Meaning ??? It’s the same action same lug. I assume the stock has swelled some or drew up. It’s been in a climate control the whole time

Well I sit it out in the evening sun for 30 mins and tried it. Barreled action went in with just a little persuasion. All is good.
