Bedding a sleeved action

I have a sleeved action with the sleeve extending 1.3 inches beyoud the action shoulder...Precludes using a recoil lug...The sleeve is thick( .300 )enough to groove .250 deep. I want to cut 4 grooves spaced along the bottom of the sleeve nominaly .250 deep and .250 wide to use as recoil lugs..If this will work what bedding material should I use for best results??? I have a large can of MarineTex...
Rifle will be chambered in 6x284...

sounds like you have everything you need. My sleeved Remington has one, possibly two grooves in the sleeve to engage the bedding. With the setup you describe, it should be rock solid. I think Marine-tex will work just fine, as would any conventional bedding compound.
