Modify sleeved 700 action for barrel nut?

i have a sleeved Rem 700 action that shoots great. The sleeve extends past the action face so using a barrel nut won’t work. So when it comes time to put on a new barrel it’ll have to go to a gunsmith.

Send the riflesmith a barrel that fits your action properly, and he can fit/chamber a replacement without having the action in hand.

Back when I started shooting SRBR we had XP-100's, Shilen DGA's, RW Hart and a few other small production action makers to pick from. My how times have changed. My first rifle was a sleeved 700 that Ferris Pindell out together. The next one was a brand new sleeved XP-100 that Gale McMillan built me. That was considered about the best available at the time. I wish I had kept that rifle.

I know I'm a day late to this thread, but, I bet if someone went to the trouble to sleeve an action, they would also probably clean up the threads, which would render a Remage barrel unusable due to thread differences.
