Bedding a savage short action to bell & Carlson stock

I free floated the tang,what’s the best way to bed it? Never done one!

Wait, you did what??

You should have taken a small amount out in one area, bed, then do the rest.

Otherwise your just sinking the tang area down to where you "free floated" it.

Unless you have pillars already installed.

If that's the case, just slightly higher that the pillars, but not so much to cover the pillars.

Oh, and remove your trigger assembly.

I want to know how to bed the stock.

I am going to free float the tang first to see how it shoots.it was binding on the tang

Free float the tang and barrel then torque tune the action screws. You should find something good.

i know this is a BVSS but i have 2 Bell and Carlson Medalists i bedded the same way without Pillars since the Bell and Carlson has the aluminum skeleton but no pics

Before I floated the tang I couldn’t get dollar bill under the nut of the barrel,now I can.
