Bayou Rifles New Years Challenge

Yesterday, the forecast for Sunday at the range was for around 60F with winds from the SE at 12MPH. I said to myself, "that will be sporting." The south wind is a b*tch at Bayou, it like to switch around, a lot.

However, the forecast for Sunday has changed this morning. We're now looking at a high of 48F with winds from the NNW at 20 to 30MPH. Bullets will be sluggish in the cold and the wind will cause issues. This is for real shooters. I'm looking forward to it; I may even wear a jacket or a long-sleeve shirt.

Let's see what the forecast is tomorrow.

And they try to convince us they can predict 100 years from now.

Good note Doug. I wasn't sure what to make of the "refund". Figured maybe someone was taking pitty on any idiot who wanted to shoot in 40 degree weather with 20mph winds. :)

I half way wanted to try a 6BRA at 1k, but I think I'll stick to the good ole 20x this time.

The forecast is holding solid for Sunday. It's going to be a great day to shoot. There should be little to no mirage so the lesser optics should do well.

You know I had to throw that in.

It's going to be all flags, all day. A great chance to practice wind reading. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm excited to find out too

Royse is going to try his hand with my 250 .308 A-Tip experiment. I couldn’t make them play very well in the calmer breeze of April, but maybe they need some havoc to shine. His .308 load is taller overall than a 300WM by a good bit. He’s in Open tomorrow with it so we have more guys. That’s going to help someone. Probably not me :)). I put a heavy scope on it to make sure it’s not TR.

Doug guessed right for me. I have plans for my .338 loads at SWN, but not much extra powder to spare.

This is a first at Bayou.

You could say there's a slight breeze

6 mins left in my gun. Holds are center x to 8 ring left (edge of black left on the second match) That 6 was a low right 6.

The rifle is in tune too lol.

Edit: Just got home; thought I would add some additional context/color. In the late afternoon we did the V2 pair firing. It required me to move firing points which consequently afforded additional wind coverage from where I shot the 'main' match, so I pulled some windage out of the gun.

In the 2nd V2 match of the day, with 3.5 minutes left on the gun, I leaked an 8 right while holding "edge of target carrier" left.
