Anybody know where there might be a BAT L or XL in Lapua bolt face in stock, ready to ship? I've checked Bruno's and bullet central, I just don't know who else might have a chance of having one on the shelf. Thanks!
Incorrect sir, there is most definitely a Lapua bolt face, and it is none of those that you mentioned. It is the bolt face used for 338 Lapua, among others. Have a wonderful day!Lapua bolt face? Do you mean to identify bolt face size? That would be Magnum, 308 or 223 and maybe PPC. No such thing as Lapua bolt face. Lapua makes ammunition, brass and bullets in all sizes.
Well, you are technically correct. However, i might point out that virtually every custom action manufacturer refers to this as either a Lapua boltface, or even a 338 bolt face. A small number may call it out by diameter. The fact remains, the majority of folks , including yourself I suspect, knew exactly what I meant. This concludes my interaction with you, good day sir. That would be a 416 Rigby bolt face. A diameter .585. 416 Rigby is the parent of 338 Lapua. I repeat, there is no such thing as a Lapua bolt face. Bolt faces are identified by the diameter used for the cartridge in question.

And some people act like a hammer head.If they refer to .585 bolt face as a Lapua boltface they are mistaken. They would be approaching greater accuracy if they called it a 416 Rigby boltface. Perhaps 470, 500, 600 Nitro Express would be even closer to the truth as the diameter was designed around those old black powder African/Indian hunting cartridges. It seems like the folks who would call a .585 boltface a Lapua have only one tool, the 338 Lapua is their hammer and as they say if you have a hammer, every problem tends to look like a nail.
Perhaps some of those who own 338 Lapua's need a simple handle to reference regardless of how silly it sounds. I never called my 338 Lapua bolt face a Lapua and I'd never heard anyone call a .585 size bolt face a Lapua. That sounds like a snipers hide kind of thing. Do they touch themselves when they utter the word? And some people act like a hammer head.
Bat makes em so Bat can name em.
