Bat B and SB

There is a weight difference too. The website says the model B's are heavier, but I don't understand why. Seems like the SB should be slightly heavier because they cut less metal out for the port.

Has anyone else noticed this? Compare the model SB 1.53" with the model B 1.53". Big jump in weight with the B model when it seems the SB models should be slightly more. The model S 1.53" compared to the model SB 1.53" is another one....the SB is a longer action with the same port size, yet is shown to weigh the same.

Am I missing something? (I was missing something....thanks for the explaination guys!)

When I ordered my 3L14OCTPIC, Bruce had to stop and look up an option. He admitted that they had so many actions and options that he could not remember them all. :) [br]
Give them a call. There must be a difference that is not obvious from the web descriptions.

OK...the B and SB should be the same length...But the SB stands for SHORT BOLT..which means it uses a S/SV model bolt similar to an XP100 length...the SB model also has a recessed tenon (to get the barrel back into the action closer to the short bolt)..which means similar to a Stolle Teddy the barrel will sit in an unthreaded recess in the front of the action...the port lenght is shorter on the SB thus with the short bolt with less bolt lug/raceway lenght and the shorter port the action will weigh more than the B model which will have a 40x lenght bolt and longer port making it lighter.

The "SB" multiflat is my favorite. I do have a "B" and needed it for the port length But most of mine are all "SV" or "SB"

Both the 3L and 3LL have the roller bearing. 3 lug actions have a reputation for hard bolt lift due to the 60° throw. Not so with the BAT 3 lugs. Both my 3L and 3LL are very smooth. Gotta love those BAT actions!
