BAT 3L action cartridge limits

Can a BAT 3L with an ejector accommodate the .284 Win case?

Ejection port is 2.70”.
284 Win case is 2.80”.

Can the action still kick the empty case out or would I have to go with the 3LL?

Thanks,

Hmm, using measurement only to the furthest point of the radii of port opening may not work out as base and neck dia will shrink that noticably.
However, the case pivoting at the back, swinging the neck through the port, well.....probably a "try and see situation."

based on my experience with both the 3L and 3LL, I think the latter is a better choice for longer cartridges, unless you don't mind having to pull the bolt to remove a loaded round.

I concur. I was hoping someone else may have already gone through the “try and see” process.

I have been running a SAUM now SAUM AI with the 3L for almost 3 years. I run with a 195. "Nose in the cartridge" is NO issue for me at all. if I have to remove a loaded round, just pull with the bolt. No problem. Not sure why folks make such a big deal about it..? I have no eject and I have no issue grabbing out the fired round and "nosing" in the next round... my loaded round is around 3.168. if you have not bought the action yet, I would just suggest to go with a 3LL to have the larger port and less 'nosing' in the cartridge...

I was looking at pics of the action online and am wondering what kind of

Great feedback. Thanks.
Does the 3L use the “bolt on recoil lug” or does it have the “indent “ on the bottom of the action that acts as a recoil lug when bedded?

Thanks,

There are many options you can select. Mine is all integral rail and lug.
