Barrel vise recommendation

So it has occurred to me through a different thread I posted, that I need a barrel vise There seems to be as many as you can shake a stick at. Any recommendations on “the best.” Or what your favorite is?

Thanks fellas.

I have the davidson vice. Worked well so far. I have been using leather scraps from making knife sheaths to keep the barrel from scratching. Did have a tikka start slipping in the leather, some confectioners sugar took care of that slipping. Didn't scratch a thing.

Bought the davidson vice off ebay direct from the mfg believe.

I’ve had a few, most were junk. The first good one I’ve owned is the one I have now, a Brownells.

I use the viper with a toilet paper roll and a layer of painter’s tape underneath it. Never had it fail nor ruin a finish.

I did sand the inside of mine to rough it up, but it only took 5 minutes using a large dowel and drywall screens.

I have the Brownells barrel vise. It works well for me. I use it on prefits so I am not breaking any 700 barrells off. I make sure to use pine resin and mask off with tape.
