Looking to put a tuner on my next build a 30br. I have no experience with tuners at all. What are the best ones what is everybody useing. Where too find one and how too size one for your barrel. My barrel hv contour should end up around .990 at the muzzle. I know what a tuner does just green on which one and size to get. Fill me in guy's

Thanks

There are numerous tuner options. My favorite tuner is Mike Ezell's Tuner. The Ezell tuner has easy to read markings which in turn make it easy to tune and then it can be locked in place. Most of the CF tuners are in the 7oz range. You can work with your local gunsmith or Mike can thread your barrel for his tuner or set up your entire barrel to your specs.

I have Bob Greens tuners on all 3 of my competition rifles. I started with them about 6 years ago. Simple and repeatable. I shoot from 100 yds. short range to 1000 yrds. benchrest with them.

Talk to Mike. He put one on my 30 BR. I have had no issues and Mike is just a phone call away for questions.

Not to pile on, but Mike makes a good tuner, and it’s what I use.

At the end of the day, it’s just a weight threaded on the end of the barrel, but details matter- the exact weight, the thread pitch, the thread fit, the stiffness of how it’s attached to the barrel, how well it stays where it’s supposed to be, the clarity and spacing of the markings. The Ezell tuner had a lot of thought put into it and it shows.

I’m sure others work too - I haven’t tried them. But I see no reason not to put another Ezell on my next rifle.

After you use a Ezell tuner, everything else just becomes a paperweight.....
I am sure there are more than one tuner out there that works. But after looking at them and hearing the directions on use I think the tuner business to some extent might be like the fishing lure business, designed to catch fishermen not fish.
