Barrel swap on a savage with glass bedding

I am wondering if I will run into any issues installing a new barrel with this stock. Would there be an issue with the barrel nut not lining up with the grooves in the bedding after I change barrels?

Almost guaranteed. The simple answer is to take a ball grinder on your Dremel tool and grind down the high spots on the bedding corresponding to the barrel-nut grooves and you'll be good to go. When I bed my Savages I fill those barrel-nut grooves with modeling clay so that there isn't any indexing problem when I change barrels, etc.

A small thin wood chisel will get rid of those nut humps. That way, the nut can go in any position. I bed the nut + maybe 1/4" then get rid of the humps.;)

My worst bedding mistake was with a savage barrel nut like this one. I let the bedding flow in front of the lug with the intention of cutting everything forward of the lug out once it had set up. I did not think about the recesses of the nut beforehand. The end result was locking the action into the stock because of the bedding that flowed into the nut recesses. I had to buy a new stock after ruined the original while separating it from the action. I did not feel very smart that day.

RELEASE AGENT!!! (and lots of it) Don't start bedding without it. Neutral shoe polish works like a charm too.;)

That bedding needs to be redone anyway. Grind all that out forward of the recoil lug on a nutted setup.
yeah that bedding job doesn’t look to great to begin with. I have wrapped the nut with tape to provide the clearance when bedding. That or dam the area off or grind it out like these guys say
